How APC Delivered A 1600 Person Camp In Record Time
9th of July 2026
When a major Pilbara expansion needed accommodation for 1,600 people, the program left no room for delays. Australian Portable Camps was engaged to take the village from concept design through to a fully commissioned facility, with every module manufactured at our South Australian facility before being transported and installed on site.
Delivering design, manufacture, transport and installation under one contract removed the handover risk that normally sits between multiple suppliers. The client had a single point of accountability from the first drawing to the final handover, and our team could sequence production against the site program rather than waiting on third parties.
Manufacturing At Pace
Modules were built in parallel on our production lines, allowing accommodation, wet mess and recreation buildings to progress at the same time. Quality checks happened in a controlled factory environment rather than on a remote site, which meant fewer defects and far less rework once the modules arrived in the Pilbara.
Transport was planned around the manufacturing schedule so that installation crews always had work in front of them. Buildings were craned into position, connected to services and commissioned in sequence, keeping the site moving from the first delivery through to the last.
Delivered In Under Nine Months
The completed village was handed over in under nine months, keeping the wider expansion on schedule and giving the workforce a comfortable, purpose built place to live. It is a result that comes down to Australian manufacturing, an experienced installation team and a delivery model built around accountability.
